Hi everyone, there is to be no video in preparation for next lesson. We have completed the syllabus for Education (my part anyway) so from now until the exam we are doing revision, revision, revision.
In addition to the revision for the mock exam in lesson I require you to show me 2 pieces of consolidation for education. This could be a mind map, flashcards, essay plans, AN and EV grids, whatever it is you do to go over your notes and consolidate them.
Here's a choon for you if you are having Stephen video withdrawal - I think its canny!

Ethnicity and Education - External factors
Hey howdy hey
This week we focus on the idea that there are differences in educational achievement between ethnicity groups, and that external forces have a say in the existence of these statistics and theories. No subject specific music video this week as I couldn't find a suitable one - so I have chosen a blast from (my) past video - enjoy.

Gender identity and subject choice
"Having fun and playing fools
Smashing up the woodwork tools"
How does your gender impact on what subjects you choose at school and beyooonnnnnddddd?(Madness reference joke!)
Please ensure that you have your essays on gender differences for the lesson - it is important!
We have 7 teaching weeks until the Family exam on the 12th May, followed by the Education exam on the 21st. Time and work is of the essence; these weeks will go fast if you sit back and relax. If you use these weeks well and work hard then they will be 7 successful weeks.

Gender and Educational Achievement
Throw your hands up at me!
For the lesson, please ensure you bring your notes from this video and update the glossary, along with evidence that you have acted upon the feedback I gave you on at least 1 mock exam paper and last weeks cultural deprivation essay. Feedback and marking is pointless unless you understand and act upon it.

Social class and Education - Internal factors
The final look at social class, and this week is looking at the internal factors. What happens within a school to impact on your educational achievement with regards to your social class and background?
Please ensure you have marked your essays - if you have not collected them from me check your inbox from Tuesday 17th for a scanned copy and the mark criteria. For those who haven't handed in the essay I need them emailed to me by asap. I cannot guarantee I will mark them by the lesson unless you get them to me by end of Tuesday 17th.

Education and Social Class - week 2
This week we move on from Cultural deprivation, and focus on Material deprivation and Cultural capital, and their impact on educational achievement. Does having more money mean a better education, even in state schools?
Sorry that there are 2 videos this week, but I could not fit them in to 15 minutes, and didn't want this to drag in to 3 weeks.
I have invited you all to access a Google Drive folder which holds the PPT's etc. for each lesson. It should now be easier to access from you college accounts. I have also put a link to the file as usual below - but please accept the invitation in your college email inbox.

No video this week
There is no video to watch this week. We are going to work on exam, particularly essay 24 mark, questions in class. Please make sure you have your files and have completed the action points. The most important thing is that you have reattempted the 2 24 mark questions as we will be assessing these using the knowledge and skill gained in the lesson.
See you in class.
